The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, DC Division of Fisheries & Wildlife and Delmarva LITE are working together to build a combined Maryland/DC Teaming with Wildlife Coalition including wildlife biologists, hunters & anglers, birdwatchers, hikers, nature-based businesses and other conservationists.

Maryland’s Diverse Lands, Waters, and Wildlife

MD_Blackwater_SunsetMaryland’s diverse landscape is dominated by the Chesapeake Bay, the nation’s largest estuary. With nearly 8,800 miles of rivers and streams and ecoregions ranging from the Atlantic Ocean to the Appalachian Mountains, Maryland harbors a broad species and habitat diversity for a state of its size. Unfortunately, habitat loss and fragmentation could further imperil declining wildlife like the brook trout and Delmarva fox squirrel, but if we invest in the Maryland Wildlife Diversity Conservation Plan today, we can conserve wildlife and vital natural areas for future generations!

A Powerful Coalition to Conserve our Wildlife Heritage

Re-launched with a Wildlife Summit on April 19, 2007, the Maryland/DC Teaming with Wildlife Coalition includes more than 110 organizations and businesses working together to spread the word about the Maryland and DC wildlife action plans and to secure the funding they need for success. YOU CAN HELP by joining the coalition, engaging organizations in your community and urging our elected officials to support the federal State Wildlife Grants Program and legislation providing long-term, dedicated funding for wildlife conservation and related education and recreation.
