Please mark March 1-2, 2016 on your calendar as the date for the next Teaming With Wildlife Fly-in. This will be an exciting couple of days for fish and wildlife diversity conservation. On these two days we will be holding the annual Teaming With Wildlife Fly-and will be releasing the final recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Panel on Sustaining America’s Diverse Fish and Wildlife Resources.

Congress Increases Funding for State and Tribal Wildlife

Earlier this month Congress passed an omnibus appropriations bill to fund the federal government through September of next year. The omnibus included a nearly $2 million dollar (3%) increase for the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants program, the first substantial increase since Fiscal Year 2010. The program received $60.57 million for fiscal year 2016. These funds will will be disbursed to the 56 states, territories and the District of Columbia to conserve more than 12,000 species that are in need of conservation.

Attached is a copy of a Dear Colleague Letter being circulated by Congressmen Mike Thompson, Don Young, Ron Kind and Frank LoBiondo to support robust funding for the State & Tribal Wildlife Grants program in FY16. This is the CORE program used by states and their partners to conserve more than 12,000 at-risk fish and wildlife.
